BPR Bank Rwanda PLC joined its customers in the Eastern Province in celebrating its 50th anniversary, hearing their various requests, including being closer to them and providing them with more convenient services.
It was a gathering that took place on the evening of this Friday, July 18, 2025. It took place in Kayonza District and was attended by some of the representatives from Rwamagana, Kayonza, Ngoma, Kirehe districts and others from Gatsibo District.
The Head of Commercial Department at BPR Bank Rwanda, Xavier Shema Mugisha, said that they were pleased to join customers in the Eastern Province in celebrating the achievements of BPR Bank Rwanda in these 50 years since its establishment, especially in the place where the bank was born. He assured customers that they will be closer to them and help them develop.
Bayingana Eulade thanked BPR Rwanda for helping him go from working on the door of a car he used to pay for to the point of buying a taxi with the help of this bank.
Uwamahoro Rehema thanked BPR Bank Rwanda for helping her dare to take out a loan and develop her home.
He said, "He convinced me, he made me bold enough to take out a loan and now I'm where I am today, whereas before I was always afraid to stay behind at home, but he made me bold enough to take out a loan and move forward."
The Chairman of the Eastern Province Private Sector Federation (PSF), Nkurunziza Jean de Dieu, thanked BPR Bank Rwanda for the position they have taken and shared with their clients. He assured them of their collaboration in many projects where businessmen need money, and asked them to approach them more and work together.
The Mayor of Kayonza District, Nyemazi John Bosco, said that the fact that this bank was launched in this District has a lot of significance both for the District and for BPR Bank Rwanda.
He said, "It is an honor to have the distinction of having the history of this bank begin in our District. Now we are happy that they are going to return to their birthplace and renovate the place where they started and have many other good things in store for us."
The CEO of BPR Bank Rwanda Plc, Patience Mutesi, thanked BPR Bank clients in the Eastern Province.
He said that they currently have the capacity to give a client 40 billion Rwf to one person if they want it.
He said, "Kayonza district is historic for BPR Bank Rwanda because it is where our bank started, we remember it and are proud of it, that is why we come here to thank you for being with us. We are now a major investment institution in the EAC and we are here to help you grow, we have many and good services that will help everyone who comes to us, whether they require collateral or not."
BPR Bank Rwanda began on August 4, 1975, in Nkamba Cell, Ruramira Sector, Kayonza District, as a cooperative, which later became Banque Populaire du Rwanda, which in turn merged with KCB Bank Rwanda Plc, becoming BPR Bank Rwanda Plc.
